July 28: World Hepatitis Day

According to the World Health Organization, hepatitis is a more severe disease than AIDS and tuberculosis, and is also the leading cause of cirrhosis or liver cancer.

In Argentina, about 1 million people are infected with hepatitis B and C, and most do not know it, being considered a "silent epidemic" because they develop slowly over decades.

The goal of the commemoration of the World Hepatitis Day is to gain awareness of the importance of the diagnostic test, the prevention and the treatment of this disease.
